We recently caught up with Enterprise Management Trainee Lauri M. to learn more about her customer service philosophy and how she creates positive customer interactions. Lauri works at a neighborhood branch in Reading, Pennsylvania and assisted a customer who had been in a harrowing multi-vehicle accident and had to rent a car from Enterprise. The customer was so impressed with Lauri’s customer service, he wrote a letter to Enterprise Holdings CEO and President Pam Nicholson.
Each year, more than 1,500 college students suit up for the Management Training Internship program at Enterprise. Whether they’re fulfilling a prerequisite or pursuing entrepreneurial dreams, interns gain real-life experience, which paves the way for plentiful opportunities.
Seeing the potential
It wasn’t all that long ago that Tara K. — now Assistant Vice President of Manufacturer and Dealership Business Development — found herself looking for hands-on training. As a senior at New York’s Siena College, Tara had been searching for an internship for a marketing class. Had it not been for the Talent Acquisition Specialists visiting on the first day of classes to help with mock interviews, Tara’s career path might have taken a different course.
“The Enterprise employee I spoke with during that first day of marketing class said she had two intern positions open if I wanted to apply,” Tara recalls. “Initially, I wasn’t sure where an internship with a rental car company would take me, but the more I learned, the more excited I became about the possibilities.”
Q: Hi Bridget! How did you learn about a career with Enterprise?
A: I was an employee referral. I had just returned home after spending a year teaching in Belize when my brother-in-law said I should apply for the Management Training (MT) program. I had planned to go to law school but ultimately decided managing my own career felt like a better fit.
Derrick M. was a bright young accounting professional looking to start his career with a successful company that offered opportunities for career growth. He had just graduated from the University of Tennessee when he decided to join Enterprise’s East Tennessee Region office in Knoxville in 2012. A year later, his promising career hit a bump in the road.
“I found out that the path to success isn’t always easy, especially early in your career as you learn a new business and adapt to the culture of the company,” Derrick says. “I was struggling with what my next steps would be at Enterprise.”
Enterprise Management Trainee Olivia D. is an exception.
The New Brunswick, Canada MT was selected to represent Team Canada this summer at the 2015 International Women’s Rugby Super Series, where they took on New Zealand, the United States and England. Team Canada put up a good fight, but New Zealand ultimately took home the world championship trophy.
A customer wrote an email to Enterprise to express his appreciation for our Huntsville, Alabama airport Branch Manager Cecilia C.’s efforts, who went above and beyond the call of duty during his recent visit to the branch. Learn more in our Q&A with Cecilia:
Q: How long have you worked for Enterprise?
A: I joined the Enterprise team in 2007 through Enterprise Holdings’ acquisition of National and Alamo. Altogether, I have worked for Enterprise and Alamo for the past 22 years.
Simply mention the Management Training program to Céline R., and she has trouble containing her enthusiasm. “Oh my gosh, it changed my life,” she says.
It’s not really an exaggeration, notes the Assistant Manager of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch at Gare de Lyon in Paris, France. When Céline first learned about the MT program at a college job fair a couple of years ago, she’d never even heard of Enterprise before.
